Hello! How are all the piano enthusiasts of the world doing?
We are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, an event which is forcing us to change our view of the world drastically.I’d like to express my deepest sympathy to all of you fighting this difficult time.

Glanzen Piano Competition marked its 31st anniversary of establishment in 2021. We are very grateful for the support we have received from so many of you in organizing the competition in Japan. I feel that diversifying methods in how we hold competitions is now essential with the global spread of COVID-19. A competition system that can maintain social distancing and still connect to the world beyond borders is desired. To fulfill this requirement, we decided to start an online video competition.

Music knows no borders! That’s what I have always thought, and by holding competitions online, it’s only natural to accept applications from different countries around the world. Furthermore, I was pleasantly surprised to find that our website was being viewed in countries including the US, Germany and South Korea. Thank you to all for taking interest in our competition.
With this finding together with our challenge to hold a competition online, Glanzen Piano Competition is happy to announce that we welcome entries from participants outside of Japan!

In this time of pandemic, we anticipate to uplift everyone’s spirits by the power of music.
Let’s test the potential of inspiration through music played by pianists from all over the world. Not only us, but children in Japan all await for your participation.

The possibilities of the piano are limitless.Depending on how you play it, the piano comes to life. If we can unite the world by playing the piano, an instrument that put together all the elements of an orchestra, then we are happy that our Glanzen Piano Competition can carry a meaning of existence.
